IQNA – A sit-in protest was held by the students and staff of the Higher Academy of Holy Quran in the Yemeni capital of Sana’a to condemn Israeli regime forces’ recent Quran desecration and their atrocities against Palestinians.

Yemeni Quran Academy students held a sit-in protest on August 31, 2024, to condemn the Israeli regime’s Quran desecration and atrocities against the Palestinian people.

The protest, organized under the slogan "Anger and Support for God, His Book, and the Sanctities," expressed strong opposition to these acts, Saba News Agency reported.

Academy staff and students chanted slogans condemning the Zionist actions against Islamic sanctities and the Palestinian people, criticizing the silence and inaction of Arab and Islamic nations.

They emphasized Yemen's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, vowing to assist in every possible way despite the challenges.

The protesters called on free Arab and Islamic peoples to take effective action in defending holy sites and supporting the oppressed Palestinian people, urging a united stance against the Israeli occupation.

The protest comes as footage released last Friday showed soldiers desecrating copies of the Holy Quran in a mosque in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Qatari news channel Al Jazeera said it obtained the footage from video taken by Israeli soldiers and drones that were found in Gaza. The footage showed Israeli soldiers breaking into the Bani Saleh Mosque in the northern Gaza Strip and then tearing up and burning copies of the Quran inside the mosque.
